Living Well and Helping Yourself

Besides going to support groups, seeing a therapist, and taking your medications, there are a lot of ways that you can help yourself manage your mood disorder.  If you have suggestions to add to this list, please contact us.  We can always use more wellness-plan suggestions!

  • Keeping a mood chart  can help you keep track of symptoms
  • Eating healthy is important for all aspects of health
  • Exercise  has demonstated clinical benefits in relieving depression and anxiety, and can be a non-harmful outlet for manic energy.
  • Using light therapy can help with winter depression, and dark therapy can help with summer mania
  • Writing in a journal is a good way to see patterns in your moods, and to vent frustrations
  • Adopting a pet can be good for your mental health!
